Nuva Ring: driving me crazy; can feel it

Greetings,

I have had a Nuva Ring in for less than 48 hours now, and it has been a most uncomfortable 48 hours. I can feel it; it "tickles" me in a certain sensitive spot ALL of the time and I can't take it anymore. I know that I have inserted it correctly, and I have even tried to insert it further than it already is, but to no avail. It is where it is. I'm very active, trying to become a triathlete, and am extremely concerned about the quality of my workouts now that I've got this annoying feeling 24 hours a day. I also get this feeling when using a tampon; it always goes away when the tampon is gone. So, I have ruled out any infections or other problems.

Anyone else have this problem? I don't think I'll get over this odd and annoying feeling. Does anyone have recommendations for another method? I'm looking for a low-dose hormone; the tricyclen gave me every side effect in the book. Any patch fans out there?

Thanks!!!

I'm very interested in your problem as I am going to be trying the Nuvaring out on Sunday. I also have actually an uncomfortable feeling when wearing a tampon if I do not insert it up high enough - it's like it feels like it is coming out and is uncomfortable. Is that the feeling or is it a different feeling you are describing? Has it gotten any better?

hey thier iv never been on nuva ring but i am on the patch im starting my third month. so far i dont have any side affects i was on ortho try cyclin and i had alot of side effects that developed over the year that i was on it. so fat i that patch has been prity good for me. it does get a fuzy ring around it if you put on dark colored panties right after you apply it. I did have it slid off the glue twice but i thin its because of where i put it. if i put it on the rounder part of my butt kinda lower on it it doesent seem to lift and sticks well. if i put it too high the corners lift because of the way the skin streches when i sit. I havent tried it on my shoulder or on my tummy yet because i dident want it to show with my bathing suit. but this winter i intend to put it on my tummy to see how it works out. im prity active too i work out for an hour every morning and i walk every after noon. i also live in a humid area so it can get quite sticky. just dont put on lotion where you are going to stick hte patch or it wil lift off. i hope i helped some. I intended to get on the nuva ring but my dr wouldnt give it to me he told me id have to go see a gyn to have it put in for me. i dont think he understood what he was talking about. hope i helped.

I had the same feeling, not painful or anything, just an awareness of the ring. I found if I used my opposite hand to adjust it than I usually would, the feeling went away. I think it helped it find a new position. It's apparently settled now because I don't feel a thing after 2 days of that annoying "tickle". Hope that helps.

Hey Sea,

I've been on the patch for over a year now and I must say that I LOVE it. It doesn't slide off or onto my boyfriend's penis like it does nuvaring, and I don't have to worry about being so absentminded that I forget to take my pill every other day. Sure, it leaves a fuzzy ring and it gets annoying at first but after a year, your body gets adjusted to it and its no longer itchy and the ring is not as visible as it first was. I have had almost no side effects and I lost 5 lbs while on it. The only side effect I had TWICE was the in the first two days ---just two medium sized headaches. You might wanna switch the patch around on different parts of your body to find your "sweet spot" though. I found that I break out into a bad rash if I put it on my butt or back so I keep switching sides on my tummy. It stays put there:) Best of luck:)

How are things going for you now? The exact same thing happened to me. I couldn't handle it anymore. I was on BCP for 7 years and just recently switched to Nuvaring. I put it in on Sunday and by Monday night I couldn't take it anymore. I had to take it out because I couldn't sleep. This is the first time that I have been off hormones in over 7 years and now I am really worried about how my body will react. I couldn't get a doctor's appointment until Thursday to see about getting on something different. I am kind of freaking out now!
