The Patch

Ok...I have a question and/or concern about Ortho Evra (The Patch). I have been on it for a little over a year now and have never really had any major problems with it. This past cycle I forgot to go to the pharmacy on time and ended up putting my week one day one patch on a day late. I didn't think about it because I had done it before. But then I read that you should use back-up contaception that week and I didn't. I had sex twice within that week and now I'm freaking out that I may have gotten pregnant. What do you ladies think? Should I be freaking out or are the chances too slim?

No one can say what your chances are of having an unintended pregnancy. They will depend first on if going 8 24-hour days without your patch was enough to cause you to ovulate and then when you had IC in relation to ovulation. Missing the first day of a patch cycle can be pretty serious but if it's more than a week since it occurred there is nothing to be done now except wait for your period to arrive. If that happens again, be sure to use back-up for at least 7 days of correct patch use. Let us know how you're doing, ok?
Hugs,
Jill
