the pill? I 've just begun Ortho Cyclen and I've been taking it at about 6:00 AM but was wondering when the weekend comes and I want to sleep in do I have to get up and take it at 6:00 or can it wait until 8 or 9?

On this forum, they consider "on time" within +- 2 hours of your normal time. However, it does somewhat depend on your body chemistry. For me, I generally am not that regular about taking my pill. I have been known to take it as early as 7 AM and as late as 1 or 2 in the afternoon. But I don't recommend doing that, it makes it too easy to forget and significantly increases your risk. Try to stick to the +- 2 hour rule.

This board considers +/-2 hours of you regular time as being ‘on time’ taking your pill. However, it would be getting of to a bad start to choose a time that you might plan to intentionally miss. That sort of thinking can lead to bad pill habits and possibly an unintended pregnancy. It is better to choose a time that you can be almost certain to take your pill every day, or switch to a lower maintenance method such as Ortho Evra, the patch, or NuvaRing, the ring. Since you are new to hormonal contraceptives, you might want to read the posts in the FAQs about hormonal methods, especially how to take your pills correctly. Let us know what you decide, ok?

Good luck,

That's exactly what I've done for a year now, and I've never had any problems!
