Hi everyone,
Today I started my last Nuvaring before I get another 3 month refill. I overall like Nuvaring. My problems with it is that since using it I have acne on my chest...not attractive. My doctor dismissed the ring as the cause, but it clears up on my off week. Also I had BV three months ago, followed by a yeast infection. I have been a little itchy off and on since then but I try to bear with it, as I know birth control can contribute to being more yeasty. However last week I noticed a strong odor after sex and I know that is a symptom of BV. I try to do my part, I have good hygiene practices. It is just frustrating, if indeed I do have another infection.
I was on OTC for 4 years. No major problems. I think my mood is more stable on the ring. I've been looking into Yasmin but I have noticed on here that a lot of people have had the emotional side effects. I'm looking for something low dose. Would something monophasic, like Yasmin be better??? Please leave me any suggestions. Thanks,
Jen

It's true that NuvaRing makes some users a bit more yeasty, but I haven't heard anything about BV being any more likely on the ring. If I were you I'd talk with my doctor about reoccurring BV, if that’s what it turns out to be. If you are considering switching to a very low estrogen monophasic take a look at 'Your pills and what's in them...' in the FAQs at the top of the board. The pills there are listed in order of the amount of estrogen in them with the lowest first. Let us know what you decide.
Good luck,
Jill
