HELP! going off the pill and getting pre

Hi, I have a really importan question! I lost my purse, including my birth control about 2- 2 1/2 weeks ago. Since I am not sexually active regularly anymore, I decided it wasnt a big deal, and that i would just wait until i got my period and just start a new pack then. However, about 3 days ago I had unprotected sex and my partner came in me (I think it has been too long to get the M.A. pill). If I had not gone off the pill, I would be getting my period right around now, but I have heard that when you go off, your cycle gets messed up and you don't have your period right away. Because it wouldnt have normally been around the 14th day of my cylce, i havent been worried about the unprotected sex. But I was off the pill for about 2 weeks. I was on it for about 4 years prior....do you think i could get pregnant? if so, when can i take a test? I dont know when my period will really be "late" under the circumstances. Also, if all goes well and i am not pregnant, should i wait to start my pill again after i gt my period? any input would be greatly appreciated!!

At any rate, I would get a new pack and start it just like you were starting your first pack all over again (ie if you are a Sunday starter, start the first Sunday after you begin your period or if you begin your period on a Sunday, start then; otherwise, if you start any day of the week, start on the day your period starts). Until you have been back on the pill for 7 days, you should use backup protection. Of course, starting again is all assuming you aren't pregnant.
Unless you are able to take the MA pill (again, I don't know how that works), your only real option is to wait it out for at least 2 weeks from the activity. And in the meantime, do use protection.
Good luck with it and do let us know how it goes,
Susan
I agree with the other poster, it is definitely possible to get pg soon after stopping your pills. You may ovulate shortly after stopping or at may take some time for your natural cycle to reset. You can test as soon as 2 weeks after the incident of concern. It's a good idea to wait until your period to begin OCs again as then you know you aren't pg and your hormones are at the lowest point in your cycle. If you begin your pills on the first day of your period you are protected immediately. If you begin any later you should use back-up for at least 7 days. Let us know how you're doing, ok?
Hugs,
Jill
