Ok- here is the situation. I started using BC pills in April. I started out with Sesonale but spotted for three weeks- two months in a row. My GYN switched me to Ovcon-35- this is my second month. I spotted for two weeks in my first month of Ovcon and I just started bleeding today (in my second month.) I am so frustrated. I've been on the web trying to research causes and solutions- none of my friends have experienced these complications. The problem is compounded even further because I just got married in May- and my husband and I have had to deal with all the inconviences of this. Please- I just need some advice on what I should do next. What pill should I try? Can anyone share their story. Should I get off of BCP?

I feel your pain! I went through the same thing a few years ago! I think I tried 7 different brands of birth control pills and had break through bleeding on every single kind. Plus I felt like an emotional basketcase. It was so frustrating! I finally went to see a new doctor, and he said that some women's bodies just can't handle the pill very well. He put me on the depo provera shot, and I absolutely love it. That was over 4 years ago and I still use it successfully. My emotions are stable and I haven't experienced any of the weight gain that is sometimes associated with it.

I've also heard that you should stick with one brand of BCP for 3 months before switching to a new one - sometimes it takes some time for your body to get used to the pill.

Just remember that there are a lot of other alternatives to the pill. There's the patch, the shot, nuva ring... there are a lot of choices and one has to work for you! Talk to your doctor about it and see what she says.

Good Luck!

Hi tranquilitys, welcome!

I know it's aggravating to have side effects when trying to choose a pill that works well for you, but honestly you didn't give your body time to adjust to Seasonale and you haven't given it time to adjust to Ovcon yet either. It can take 3 or more cycles to adjust. In the case of Seasonale, that's 3 extended cycles. If you can, I'd stick with Ovcon for at least 3 or 4 cycles to see if you can adjust, otherwise you'll never know if it would have worked for you. Let us know how you're doing.

Good luck,
