Confused...

Hey everyone,

Since I went one the pill a year ago, I've read a lot of BCP (this board has been VERY helpful) and I feel like I've got it all down, but I have a question about BC that's been bugging me...

Ok, so we know that taking pills late or skipping them is a very bad idea as the lack of hormones can trigger ovulation. However, we also know that you are protected against pregnancy on the "inactive" week provided that you have taken your pills correctly. Now, I am Seasonale, and was looking to shift my period (inactive week) by a week or two. Sooooo...how does your body "know" that it's the first day of the inactive week as opposed to just a missed pill? Does that make any sense? I'm especially curious since I'm on Seasonale and there is nothing magical about the 84/7 regimen and that it could have been 11 weeks, or 13, or whatever the researchers picked.

Hopefully I have my facts right! Ideas?
