i've been on the patch for about 4 months, its really easy to remember. this month was the first time i've had any spotting, but it wasn't bad, it started a few days before my period so i was little confused about thinking i might be starting early. the only other peoblem with it is it starts to look dirty after a couple days. you know how when you got a band-aid on for a day or two it gets blackish around the edges, same thing. but i only see my boyfriend on the weekends, so i change it on fridays, and he only sees it looking fine. So over all i'de say go for it.

I was on Ortho-Tri for about 2 years and had a very hard time remembering to take the pill every night. I switched to the patch a year ago and I am going to be switching to the Depo shot. The patch was very convient to remember but I didn't like it as much as I though. The adhesive from the patch can stick to your clothes and you have a lint ring around your patch each week. In the summer it was a real pain to find a place to put it that wouldn't show in a bathing suit. Several of my friends and myself all used the patch for about 6 months and each of us started having problems with spotting, headaches, nausea and sever cramping. When I just saw my Dr, she said that she hasn't had any patients who have stayed on the patch for longer than a year. I would try the ring or the shot before I would the patch.

I was on Orto-Tricyclen for about 4 years and the last year was the worst one. It made me nauseous and I never remembered to take it. I hated taking it when I did remember because it made me gag. So I switched to the patch and I am going on my Second month of using it. I like it I haven't had any problems with it so far but this is still the beginning phases.

Hope this helps!

I just started the patch a week ago. I thought it might help the lack of libido I was experiencing on Alesse. I was nauseous the first day or two, and the patch site was a little sore and itchy (now stopped), and now my breasts are swollen and sore too (not something I need). Yes, there is a lint ring, but who cares?! It's not lifted any, so that's okay too. The libido issue has gotten worse. I don't know if I want to stay on it, but as long as I don't get pregnant, then I guess it's doing it's job! The real story is that everyone I've seen post has had a different experience. Get your doc to write a 1 month RX, then see how you like it. Good luck!

Anyone trying a new method of hormonal contraception should stay on it for at least 3 cycles to give your body time to adjust. Otherwise you may never know if it was the right thing for you.
