I just started on Ortho Cyclen on Sunday. I was told to start the Sunday after I got my period, but my period came on a Sunday and it said to take on a Sunday if you got it then. I took my first pill about 5:00 that afternoon and have been taking it between 6 and 6:30 AM this whole week since then. Last night I had sex with my boyfriend and he came inside of me. Am I 100% protected since I've been taking it regularly, even though I just began on it this week?

Hi mapper71, welcome back!

No method of contraception in 100% effective, except abstinence. However, since you were a first day start you should have been protected immediately. If you have been taking your pills correctly you should be protected to the extent of the effectiveness of the pill which is 98-99% effective. You should be just fine. Does this help any?
