Hi! Ok I have a question... One of my friends just got a prescription for birth control online on one of those pharmacy sites. I worry about her doing that! Is it safe? and legal for that matter? and if so then which ones are kosher?? Thanks for your help!! :)

No it's not safe. Before starting on birth control pills, she should have been examined by a doctor. The little questionnaire on those sites is no substitute for that. You also have no way of knowing for sure what you're getting. Some of those sites don't even send out real medications.

Thats what I thought! and I told her that too but she didn't seem to care for some reason. She said that she was sure that it was legitimate....???

There are lots of fake online pharmacies, and some have been caught selling fake drugs. This article gives things to look out for when buying drugs online:

She can also go to www.nabp.net to see if the pharmacy is licensed or not.

If money is a problem, then Planned Parenthood is really cheap to go to and you know you're getting the real thing there. Or is it possible she's simply afraid of having a pelvic exam?
