This is my first time using birthcontrol and I was going to use the one day start but my period never came...it was suppose to start 2 days ago. Is it ok to start taking a couple of the pills then stop taking them and seeing if my period will come then start on the rest of them. Or Is it ok to just go ahead and start my pills my last period was Aug. 31...

Hi cassie_v07, welcome back!

When beginning oral contraceptives it can take four or five cycles for your period to develop a pattern. Aunt Flo usually comes two to five days after taking the last active pill in the pack but it can be a shorter or longer interval. It is not a good idea to take one or two active pills to try and bring on AF. She will come when she's ready and if you take several active pills now you will confuse your body and short the pack for your next cycle. Continue to take your pills as you should, all seven placebos and then begin the next pack of active pills. If you have been taking your pills correctly you should be just fine. Let us know when AF shows up, ok?

Good luck,

I totally agree with the other post....you need to take them exactly as directed either by a dr or the insert that comes with the pills. If you have a "first day start" pack, then you definately need to wait for the first day of your period before you take them....

you can just start taking your pills you don't have to do a first day start just make sure to use protection for seven days and you will probley end up skipping this month period
