Has anyone used this BCP? I am starting it as soon as my pack of Yasmin is done. I have been on Yasmin for 1 1/2 years, and my symptoms with it have just been getting progresively worse. Nausea, heartburn, moodiness, etc. Except I am afraid that the Estrostep is going to make me gain weight.. I just really don't know what to expect. I have heard that it is very low dose and has no negative side effects in a lot of people. Any help would be appreciated, thanks a lot!

We've had a number of members here that used Estrostep, and I've taken a similar pill, Loestrin 1.5/30. It's not considered a very low dose pill (just low dose), it's got too much estrogen for that (though not high by any means). The progestin is pretty mild, so it's given in a larger dose than the pills you might see with very small progestin doses. Estrostep is another pill that has gotten clearance from the FDA to claim that it helps acne, so if that makes you feel better...

When I took Loestrin, I didn't have any issues with it until I'd been on it several years. I ended up needing less progestin or more estrogen, and it kind of snuck up on me. I had regular periods that weren't too heavy, no weight gain, no nausea or breakthrough bleeding or anything like that, but you know that everybody is different.

I hope it works for you!

Thanks Judie! I am crossing my fingers that I'll feel better with this pill switch. I think my doctor was worried that it was the different pogestrin in the Yasmin that was affecting me. So, hopefully this will be it. :-)

I used estrostep after using otc lo. I lost a few pounds and my skin cleared up but I was moody and anxious. Everybody is different. Give it a try and see.

Hi! I've been on Estrostep FE for about four months now and I haven't had any problems with it. I haven't gained weight or had any problems with irregular bleeding. It's interesting that you're switching from Yasmin to Estrostep because I want to switch from Estrostep to Yasmin. I have heard that some people have lost weight on Yasmin (although I know that's not true for everyone), and that it helps with bloating. Anyway, good luck with the Estrostep. :)
