An odd celebration, I know. With all the drama going on in my life right now (most of which is bad), it's cause to celebrate. I just started Yasmin-28, first month, and I was scared that my pills weren't "working" even though that's silly to think. But, I had sex with my bf this weekend without condoms, so I was a little worried, but we're ok now! Yay! I feel much better being on BC now too. Just wanted to let you know!

Good for you... I do have to point out that if you don't start trusting your pills eventually, it might be a good idea to switch to something you might trust more (patch, ring, shot, whatever) or even something physical to mentally give you the idea of a barrier - diaphram, condom, etc... Or if you can't trust it but still like the pill, you can add a condom to it for your own ease of mind.

But hopefully you will get to trusting it eventually!!

Congratulations on AF!

Part of the reason I seem to not "trust" them is because all of my life, my mom has shoved it down my throat how "she got pregnant with me while on Ortho... Just because someone's on birth control, doesn't mean it works!" So, I am the product of them not wanting kids. Not to mention, it's most effective when taken correctly (same time), and if she took them like she takes her meds now, then, no wonder I'm here! But, I think she used that as a scare tactic to get me to abstain from sex.

Well, that all makes sense!! I'm just saying that if you can't get yourself to trust them, it's probly best to find a solution you can get yourself to trust rather than panicing every month!!! Whatever you choose should be what you feel most comfortable with. I can tell you I've been on the pill for 4 1/2 years and never been pregnant. Other women on this board have been on it 10 years and not been pregnant. There are a few who do get pregnant, but it's one of those things - it's not that common. Anyways, I hope it works out well for you and you learn to trust your pills!! You are not your mom!!

Hope none of this came across badly to you... I just think you should do what makes you feel most comfortable - it's your body after all!! Hugs from me to you and I hope AF showing up on time and on schedule this time helps you to trust the pill more in the future!!

Nothing came across wrong at all! I just wasn’t 100% sure because it was the first month, you know? It’s like starting yoga; you aren’t sure if it’s working, but you keep doing it, then you see the results later. Maybe a bad example, but my brain’s fried! I do feel better having that over condoms only though, simply because *I* just don’t trust a little piece of latex only.

AND it’s good to hear successes in this first time too! Your 4 1/2 years sounds good to me. Like I said, I think my mom just used it as a scare tactic or something.

I understand!! :-) I'm glad you're gonna feel better about trusting the pill more now. I definitely feel that it's a lot more effective than a condom! Good luck with it and I hope you don't have any of the side effects some of the women here have had.
