Want a new pill! Help!

I have been on OTC Lo since March. The first three months, I had absolutely no side effects. Starting in July, I had BTB that month, a really late period last month, and now BTB again this month on my last day of active pills. I have never missed a pill and the latest I have taken one is 4 hours off schedule last month. This month I have taken all pills within 30 minutes of my normal time. Here are my questions:

1) Since I am on my second day of inactives and still bleeding, is this my period or should I consider it BTB?

2) Is it time to consider switching to something else? Any suggestions for a pill with few side effects? Should I be able to get the DR to call in a new perscription, or do you think I will have to go in?

Thanks!

Hi uagirl41381, welcome back!

My guess is that it was your period beginning early.

2) Is it time to consider switching to something else? Any suggestions for a pill with few side effects? Should I be able to get the DR to call in a new perscription, or do you think I will have to go in?

Five months should be long enough to give a pill a good try. If you are loosing weight or taking large qtys. of vitamin C (100mg or more per day) they can cause irregular bleeding. I forget... did you ask about that before? Your doc might or might not call in a different Rx for you. If you stopped by his or her office s/he might give you a few months of samples to see how you like the new pill/patch/ring. If I were going back on hormones I would try NuvaRing: http://www.nuvaring.com/Consumer/index.asp It is very low maintenance and low dose and most members posting about it here seem to like it. Let us know what you decide, ok?

Take care,
