spotting for a week

Hi I know that birth control pills can cause spotting. But I have been having spotting for a week now. Is it too much? It is certainly not my period, because I am only beginning to take the inactive pills today. I am taking ortho-cyclen for the 2nd month, and the spotting wasn certainly not so long in the first month.

You should be just fine. Expect to bleed into this week, since you are starting your placebos. I would worry if you are feeling light-headed or really tired or anything. If it's getting worse each month, it could be that these pills just aren't strong enough for you. I'd still give it another month or two. If it happens again in the fourth month, I'd change pills. Some of the other ladies can tell you what might be a good pill (a "stronger" one). But I think you are just fine, especially if it is just spotting.

It might be a normal part of the getting-used-to-it process, try not to worry! If it's worse next month, then you might want to talk to your doctor about a pill change for convenience purposes. It doesn't affect your protection, it's just inconvenient! There are a lot of choices if this pill doesn't work out.

I hope things go well, keep us posted!
