Last week I went out of town and forgot my pills. On thursday, I took 6 at once and the next day I was violently ill. I don't know why I did it, I know it can't be healthy. does anyone know how dangerous that is and what it can do to my body and if I can still get pregnant? Will I still get my period when I'm scheduled to? I hope someone can answer this.thanks.

That much hormone is a real shock to your system. I'm not sure what will happen with you. Taking it all at once doesn't make you more protected. The only thing that will make you protected is taking 7 consecutive active pills. But, at this point, it sounds like you should just ditch this pack of pills and start over. One of the other ladies should be able to advise you on the how of that (not sure if you should drop the pills entirely and wait until your period or if you should just start taking a fresh pack right now). I hope someone else gets to you soon!!

Hi pixiegirl78, welcome!

I agree with Susan. I don't think you've hurt yourself by taking 6 pills at once but you aren't protected. If I were you I'd throw the old pack away and start over. Most patient info. leaflets that come with your pills usually say that if you miss more than 4 pills you should start over. If I were you I’d be using back-up now. Starting over, without having taken 21 active pills correctly, means that you won’t be protected if you take several days before starting active pills again. You will need to use back-up from now until you have taken at least 7 consecutive active pills correctly. If you begin taking a new pack now you will probably not get your period on your old schedule. Let us know how you're doing, ok?

Take care,

I agree with the other ladies--if you miss one or two pills, they tell you to take them to keep you on track, but it doesn't make you just as protected as if you'd taken them on time. With four missed days, you're definitely supposed to throw out the old pack and start over.

That many pills WILL make some people extremely nauseous! You may start bleeding from the hormonal fluctuation, you may not, but you should be prepared for bleeding irregularities until you've gotten through the next inactive week in a new pack.

The most important part is that you don't have sex without a good backup method (a method you would use if you weren't on the pill at all) until you've had _at least_ seven days of an active pill taken on time.

Good luck! Next time, if you miss more than two pills, don't try to make them up, just start over....I hope things go well!
