OK, I need some input on this...

I was on birth control (Ortho-tri-cylen) for 3 years. I got off of them for a month and got pregnant that same month. I had my baby and 6 weeks later was put on Ortho-tri-cyclen lo. My period was normal. My doctor had only given me enough until my next Pap which was two months later. However, something came up and I had to switch my appointment to about 3 weeks later than that so I was off the pill for a month. So I got back on the pill and during the second month on it once I started my period it was normal but 3 days after I stopped I had brown blood start showing up (yuck) about a quarter size amount each day until my next period which was brown blood in small amounts. I stopped taking the pill permanatly. It was almost 4 months after that that I saw any type of blood...and now for 2 weeks I have been seeing the quarter size brown blood each day. Where is my normal period...should I be worried...I know I am not pregnant...any advice out there?

Hi angeltxgirl, welcome!

Your body can change significantly after having a child. The way things worked before may not be the way they will work now. It can take 3 or 4 cycles for your body to become used to the hormones in your pills so stopping after 2 months may not have given your body long enough to adjust and see if that pill would have worked well for you. Sometimes it takes a few months to begin cycling normally after stopping hormones. It would be a good idea to talk with your doctor about your situation and see what s/he thinks. I hope your periods are back to normal soon. Let us know how you're doing, ok?

Take care,
