Hello Ladies,

I need some support please. I'm in my 7th week of taking this pill. I have had btb/spotting for the last week. It stops for a week starts up for a week. Is this normal? I know this pill is known for this. I'm freaking out! How long should I give it before changing this pill? I'm anemic and take an iron pill every day. How much does the iron pill help out your hemoglobin level? How long can you btb/spot and still be ok with your blood level? Just wanted to know if some of you are experiencing the same thing.

Hi there...

Like you said, Seasonale is known for making women experience break through bleeding for extended periods of time. Just keep in mind that it eventually *will* subside and you will begin to bleed only at your designated times of the year. How long it takes differs from woman to woman, it's a very personal thing. What is recommended is that you keep with it for 3 months and then decide if it is for you or not. You've only got 5 more weeks to go! I'd say hang in there!

As for your iron deficiency/anemia, I'm sure that your doctor wouldnt prescribe a drug to you that s/he thought could be potentially dangerous. Actually, blood lost during menstruation (or btb) doesn't amount to much, even if you are anemic. Just keep up with your iron pills, eat your leafy greens and remember that if you're in doubt, all those questions are *great* for your Doctor. Don't be afraid to call him/her.

As Jenn said irregular bleeding is quite commom on Seasonale. Unfortunately, irregular bleeding on Seasonale can go on for 2 or 3 extended cycles (6 to 9 months) It should get better and disappear over time, perhaps in 5 or 6 weeks, but I wouldn't want you to set your heart on it. If I were you I'd talk with my doc about the relationdhip of irregular bleeding and anemia. S/he should be able to reassure you. Thanks for the update. Let us know how you're doing, ok?

Good luck,

Hi Jenn,

Thanks for your reply. I just get worked up and it stresses me out which I know isn't good either. I get my blood level checked next week so I will know where I am. Hopefully it won't be too low. It sure seems like it's alot of blood but I know it's not.

Thanks for the support!!
