weight gain with seasonale?

Hey Everyone,

I'm new here. I've been taking Seasonale since May. For the most part I really like it. However, as soon as I started taking the pill (2nd week or so) I started to gain weight. I have been the same size/weight (within a few lbs) for about 7 years. Within the first two months I gained about 15 lbs. Has anyone else had this problem?

Also, a little history which may be part of my problem. I have endo, and was diagnosed last November. I had a laparoscopy and then immediately started Lupron. I took that for 6 months and then started seasonale. For those of you who don't know, Lupron stopped my body's production of estrogen so I went through a chemically induced menopause for 6 months. At the age of 28! It was great!! (note my sarcasm) So, as soon as I stopped Lupron I immediately started seasonale and the goal was for me to have 4 periods a year so that I wouldn't experience any pain. That has worked. Very little pain, and very easy periods. But the weight gain is driving me CRAZY! I don't know if this is a sole result of seasonale or if it's a combo with the lupron treatment and bcp's. Who knows. Luckily I called my doctor and they're going to change my bcp so that I can still have 4 periods a year, but hopefully stop the weight gain.

So, if you guys have any experience with this, I'd love to hear it!

Thanks!

Hi seyles, welcome!

We do have some members using Seasonale... Most of their complaints have been about irregular bleeding. While you are waiting for replies, you can check the archives using the search box at the top of the screen. Thanks for posting. Let us know how you're doing, ok?

Good luck,

I'm on my 3rd month of seasonale and haven't had any weight gain. The only con I have about it is the irregular spotting. After your body totally gets use to the cycle, it's supposed to stop that though ...
