I just started the pill this week and aside from the fact that i now feel nausious most of the day, I've woken up a couple nights between 5am&7am and thrown up.I didn't though up any food, just i suppose stomach lining. Are these temporary symptoms that will go away once i'm used to the pill or should i stop taking it immediately and find a different brand?
thanks for the help!

I am taking the generic version of Loestrin (Junel) Anyhow, for the first three months I was nauseous but I didn't vomit. Of concern is the time you took your pill versus the time you vomited. If you did vomit within 2 hours of taking the pill, it might not be as effective and you would need added protection between now and the 7 days after you last vomited. That said, I also had headaches and breakthrough bleeding the first three months and on the third month only, my emotions were all over the place. Everything made me want to cry but that lasted only one month. Now I am on my 7th month and everything is back to normal (except that I always get my period on the third week of the active pills and never on the sugar or placebo pills) and has been for 4 months. Normally it is suggested that you continue using your new pill for at least three cycles before you attempt to make a change but I don't know if that still applies since you have actually vomited. I know I didn't help much but I wanted you to know my experience. I am sure others on this board will better help you. Good luck. Lucy
I'm sorry you are feeling blah... Nausea and cramping are common side effects of starting hormonal contraceptives. Side effects should decrease over time as your body adjusts to the hormones in your pills. It could take 2 or 3 cycles for the side effects to disappear. If they don't then you should ask your doctor for a pill change. I hope you're feeling better soon. Let us know how you're doing, ok?

I posted a few months ago because I was getting my period on the third week of active pills. Well, my doctor finally decided to change the dose from Loestrin 1/20 to 1.5/30. I take the generic (microgestin), this is my second week and I am experiencing big time nausea at night! The first week was fine, but this week has been so bad! I'm hoping it will go away soon. I was wondering if it's normal to feel nauseous at night though, I take the pill at noon and the nausea begins at about 5PM and lasts a few hours.
Does anyone have any advice for me?
Thank you!!
Nino
I think the nausea you are experiencing is your body adjusting to the different hormones in your pills. It can sometimes take 2 or 3 cycles to adjust. I hope you're feeling better soon.

Thank you so much for responding! I think the worst is over. I'm happy again!
Hopefully this pill will work. This is my third week and I think I got my period...not a good thing considering the reason I switched is because I used to get my period in the third week of actives!! I will give it a couple of months and talk to my doctor about it. I really don't know what to do...when I spoke to the nurse about the Loestrin 1/20 she said I should be using back up if I was getting my period early, but now I'm confused, how can they tell me to wait another three months if I'm having the same issues on the higher dose? I will be very grateful for any wisdom any of you can share.
Thanks!!!
Nino
