Question about Yasmin

Hi All,

I have a quick question. My OB put me on Yasmin to stop the btb that I was having; it did. But now my periods are unbelievably heavy and last seven days or more. She told me that Yasmin would make them lighter and less crampy, but it hasn't. I have been on it for two months now. Does anyone have any suggestions? Has anyone else had this on Yasmin?

Thanks for your advice.

Hi laurabee24,

It can take 3 or 4 or perhaps a few more cycles to see how your period on a particular pill will stabilize out. If I were you I'd give it another couple of cycles to see if all your periods will be heavy. Let us know how you're doing, ok?

Good luck,

Thanks, Jill. I will wait it out another couple cycles to see what happens. I just pray that they get better.

Thanks again,

Laura

Yasmin did shorten my periods and they became less heavy too. But it took a few months to get that straight. I was taking OTC before that, so my body had to adjust. I really like Yasmin, it has been a good pill for me.

Thanks Ariesgrl, I pray that this will help me, too! So far I like Yasmin, just not too crazy about the heavy periods and cramps. Otherwise, I have not had any weight gain on it at all, which I am very pleased with and my skin (which I never had bad problems with acne) doesn't break out at all now.

Thank you!

Hope your heavy flow will be under control soon. I've been on Yasmin since May, and mine got considerably less. I was wondering though, you or anyone have experienced with mood swings on this pill. This is very first time I'm using any kind of pills, during PMS I get emotionally so unstable. I had some major fights with my boyfriend for no good reasons during my pms since I've been on Yasmin. I know that we get moody during pms, but it's been totally different than before. Any ideas?

good luck with you laurabee24!

Hi piggy71,

I did notice some mood swings, but only during the week of my period. I was a little irritable and cried some. It wasn't awful, though. I'm much better now that my period is over. It may just take some time for your body to adjust to the hormones. I'm hoping that after this month, my flow tapers off some. This month my period went from 8 days to 5, so that's good.

Good luck, piggy71! Let me know how you are doing!

I started on Yasmin in June after being on Mircette for a year. My first period on Yasmin lasted about a week ... it was a heavy one w/ clots, too. But, that was just the first one, and now they are normal. Now, I start on a Tuesday and am done by Saturday afternoon.

Another question for those on Yasmin: does this pill make you tired throughout the day? I've noticed that ever since being on it. When I was on mircette i was never tired.

I had major problems with my emotions on Yasmin, but not until I'd been taking it for nearly a year. Suddenly I started feeling overly emotional. I'd cry at anything. It would start as soon as I'd begin a new pack and continue until I got into the placebo week. After two months of that, I could not even force myself to start the next pack and I called my doctor in tears to get on something different.

I've noticed my crazy moods and just switched to Yasmin. That's made it better. But now on yasmin, I've noticed bloating and increased appetite! Has anyone else noticed this? If so what did you do?
