I'm thinking of going on the BC "ring." Basically you put it in like a tampon and leave it there for a month. Does anyone use this? I think it sounds great because I'm terrible at taking pills, and it's low-hormone, but I don't know of anyone who's ever used it. thoughts?

I think it's great! This is my first month on it, and I don't have any of the bad side effects I had with monophasic and triphasic birth control pills. I can't recommend it highly enough!

I just started the nuva ring this month, I'm on my 3rd week. It's better for me, since I cannot with my crazy work schedule rememeber to take the pill! It was kind of tricky to insert, (or I thought at least) but once you get it in there right, you don't feel it at all, and neither does my BF. The low hormones is also a plus. I would get headaches with the pill, and I haven't with the ring. Good luck, it's worth a try! You can always switch later if it doesn't work for you, but I hope that it will! :)

I've been using the ring for almost two years and I wouldn't go back to the pill unless I HAD to. I love the convenience of inserting it and forgetting it until I have sex, when I check to make sure it's still there, or until my e-mail reminder to remove it arrives! The hormones agree with me and the very low estrogen dose makes my periods very...agreeable.

Just like any other hormonal birth control, you'll have to try out this particular combination of hormones to see if it's right for you.

And just because you brought up tampons, and I'll bet we'd get a question on this anyway... Sometimes women are freaked out by the ring because they think "Well my box of tampons tells me that I have to change them every 4-6 hours, so how can I put in a ring and leave it there for three weeks?!?!" They wonder about the risk of TSS with the ring, and the good news is that there isn't a risk of TSS because the ring isn't absorbent. It doesn't trap body fluids and hold them inside the body, so all normal processes of regular vaginal self-cleansing still take place.

Give it a try! It's not perfect for everybody, but it's great for a lot of people.

hey there! i've been using nuvaring for only two weeks so far, but i must say that i really like it. this is the first bc method i've ever used (other than barrier methods) so i can't compare personal experiences to other methods. but i really do think this method is easier and more convenient that others. i dont even know its in there cause i can't feel a thing! i would definetley recommend it to those who can't or don't want to have to remember to take a pill daily (i too am one of those people). hope this helps!
