need advice

Ok well I'd really like some input on my situation. About two years ago I was put on birth control to start my period (and it worked immediately). Just recently I had to go off of it for a little while because of loss of health insurance. I did not get my period. I took a HPT and it was negative. I am wondering if my system has stopped working again, could I be pregnant, or is my system just needing time to get used to having no hormonal therapy and will pick up again? Any input helps but if there are any medical experts out there I'd especially like to hear from them. Again I don't have health insurance so please please don't tell me to go see a doctor... I already know I need to. Thanks everyone!

Hi mrsheatherb, welcome!

I think it is possible that you just haven’t started cycling naturally again as yet. If irregular periods were a problem before they may well reappear.

Have you considered going to your local Planned Parenthood Clinic or public health service for treatment and discounted BCPs? The PP Clinic locator is: http://www.plannedparenthood.org/Zip.htm PP usually has a means tested schedule of prices. Give PP a call and see what they say. Let us know how you’re doing, ok?

Take care,

Yes I will have to see about going to Plan Parenthood. Also my periods were not irregular before I started bcp's... it was non-existent. I don't know if that makes a difference or not. My ovaries were/are under-developed. I don't know if they are or what to think anymore. Again it has been two years since I started bcp's and I was on hormonal therapy a few years leading up to that. I don't know if my ovaries were able to grow and normalize during that time. I had a sonogram but the doctor didn't tell me anything! Thats one of the reasons why I didn't really care when I was unable to keep my health insurance. Have you ever had a doctor lie to you and criticize you? It really hurts.

I'm sorry you had such a bad experience with your doctor. I hope the ones at PP will be able to help you. Keep in touch. Let us know how you're doing, ok?

Hugs,
