Why hasn't bleeding stopped?

Geez. Ok so I've been on cyclessa for like... 7 months. Never had a problem. Recently my period comes on a saturday (I'm a day one start on fridays)... fine, it used to come on sundays. whatever though. Well, now it is the following saturday, and I'm still (lightly) bleeding.

Is there any reason I might be having breakthru? I only had breakthru the first month... and then no problem. Can that happen after a while with the pill?

has anyone experienced this?

So you're bleeding with the first/second active pill in the new pack? That's pretty typical for me. ;)

We all metabolize hormones at different rates depending on the day. The pills are formulated with enough "extra" so that even on days when you're metabolizing the hormones a lot or hardly at all, you're still covered. But what your body takes vs. what it excretes can vary depending on whatever else is going on in your body. Sometimes our pill periods can be different from time to time, even when nothing else seems different. Some months I'll start on Monday (I'm a Friday start with the ring) and not finish until the following Saturday or Sunday, but this month I was finished on Thursday. And with the ring there isn't any user error involved or anything! Some months it's a little heavier and crampier, others are a total breeze, I blame it all on differences in my metabolism.

It might be no big deal! ;) But if it's not no big deal, you know the drill....(phone call)

Hi climbinggirl, Welcome back!

I think irregular bleeding can start at any time when you are on hormonal contraceptives. Are you doing anything like taking large doses (1000 mg or more) of vitamin C or dieting-exercising and loosing weight? Sometimes those things can cause irregular bleeding. Have you read Judie's post "Irregular bleeding anyone?" in the FAQs? That covers a lot of different bleeding situations. If IB continues for several cycles you might want to ask your doctor about a pill change. Let us know how you're doing, ok?

Good luck and hugs,

Ah thank you... yea, finally it stopped on saturday... so I started saturday and ended late saturday.

Well at least it stopped. So strange that my period has become longer on the pill (though lighter, just spread out more).

Weird.

Thanks all! I love this board
