Good Evening!

Got a question for all those pill users who've had a baby and are back on the pill. My DD Katie is almost 16 months old. I have been back on the pill (Tri-Sprintec) for just over a year since her birth. In June and this past month I'd had dark red/brown spotting/CM the first week after my "period" withdrawal bleed. It seems to happen on Thursday I start my pills on a Sunday. I called my dr the first time it happened as I hadn't experienced it on the pill before having DD. They said it happen sometimes. Well it's happened again this month I'm just curious has this happened to anyone else? Is my body reacting to the BC different after pregnancy?

It's not really spotting I'd call it colored cervical mucus. TMI it's not really on a pantyliner or underwear only when wiping. SORRY :)

Thanks!

We've definitely had women here whose experiences with birth control are different after childbirth. It's possible too that your own hormones are changing a bit, they tend to do that over time! It seems a little strange that it's only on one particular day, but the color that you're describing sounds like oxidized blood. Within the body, when it's newly released from a blood vessel, it's red, but with exposure to oxygen, just like a cut on your arm or a spot on your shirt, it turns brown.

I'm not sure if that explanation helps you or not?

Good luck!

Hi Judie! Thanks for posting. I originally thought it was the same day - it started on the 5th day of my first week of my new pill pack. It only last a day or so in June - this time it lasted until Sunday (last night) Gone now feeling fine on week 2 of my pills now. Strange I'm keeping an eye on it though - just in case.

Thanks!
