Missing pills every other day and doubling up will confuse your body for sure! So that's probably what’s going on with the cramping and bleeding. Right now I think you should be concerned about the effectiveness of your protection too. If I were you I'd be using back-up until you decide on an effective method that you can use properly.
Have you considered switching to either Ortho Evra, the patch: http://www.orthoevra.com/ , or NuvaRing, the ring: http://www.nuvaring.com/Consumer/index.asp ? The patch is changed once a week for three weeks and then a patch free week for your period. The ring is inserted in the vagina for three weeks and removed for one for your period. Both are very effective and are much lower maintenance that oral contraceptives. Or, if you want something long term (5-10 years, or in Canada 2.5 years) you might want to consider an IUD. There is a very good post about IUDs in the FAQs. Let us know how you’re doing and what method you decide to switch to, ok?
This board doesn't recommend stopping mid-pack as some women can bleed for the rest of their cycle. If you do stop be sure to use another effective form of contraception. Let us know what you decide, ok?
