Ring Confusion

I started using the ring 4 weeks ago, but halfway thru the month it slipped out and I never put back in because I was having a lot of cramping and nausea. After it came out I spotted for 2 days. I should be starting AF today but no sign of her. Do I go off my schedule before the ring or do I consider the spotting a short AF? Another way to ask the question, when should I take a Preg test?

Hi Susie, welcome!

I would count your 2 days of bleeding after you removed the ring as your period and expect Aunt Flo probably at a normal cycle interval from that date, give or take a bit. If you have been using another effective form of contraception since removing the ring you probably don't have anything to worry about. If it would make you feel better then by all means test. Let us now how you're doing, ok?

Good luck,

It's possible too that your next cycle or two might be a little off. Even though you were only on the ring a short time, sometimes that's long enough to change when a woman ovulates for a while until her body gets back into its regular schedule. So if your next period is late, try not to worry too much if you've been using reliable birth control! And you would start counting from the time of bleeding, but remember that those numbers may be off considerably.

Good luck!

Thank you for all your support. I won't worry about it yet. It is just more difficult not knowing. I will wait another couple of weeks before taking preg test. Thank you again for your advice, I have never posted any messages before. As far as the reliable birth control ... well there has been a few times of questionable, like none. There was miscommunication during the heat of the moment, a couple of times. Almost seemed like he meant to because I thought I was pretty clear. We have talked about it but in a few years from now. So won't be the end of the world, just wrong timing.
