Ring and Possible Pregnancy??

Hi Ladies! I've posted on other message boards, but is my first visit here! You all seem to answer questions quickly, and honestly and that is what I need right now! Here is my situation: I have been on bc pills for quite some time, my Gyn was ooncerned because I had some irregular periods and was also hyper-ovulating (my right ovary was producing 2 mature eggs). He decided to switch me to the ring. I know on the box it says that correct placement is not necessary, however, the ring will not stay in! I'm afraid it has to do with my uterus being tilted back, rather than sitting in the usual position. My boyfriend and I had sex last weekend (9-18) and I started this new ring on 9-19. The first day of my last period was 9-13, so I figured last weekend I was ok, b/c I shouldn't have been ovulating. However, this weekend we also had sex using no back-up method and according to an ovulation calendar I should be ovulating from 9-24 to 9-27. I am a little worried about becoming pregnant b/c the ring hasn't stayed in place. It hasn't been out for more than 3 hours, but still i'm a little nervous. I know this is a long post, but I was hoping someone had some advice! Thanks for listening to me ramble and thanks again for any advice or feedback!

I'm really sorry your ring won't stay in place! I don't think there is anything that you can do to make it stay. It will move around until it finds a spot where it will stay, or it comes out. If you have been using the ring correctly (using back-up for the first 7 days and not having it out for more than 3 hours at a time) I think you are probably ok. If the ring is effective you should not be ovulating so an ovulation calendar isn't going to tell you anything! Combined contraceptives suppress ovulation almost entirely and your cycles should be under control of the hormones in your method, pill, patch or ring.
If I were you and my ring wouldn't stay in place I would be uneasy too. You may not have anything to worry about but if I were you I'd would be using back-up. A call to your doctor is in order. Explain what is going on so you can get on a method that works for you. Some possibilities are: Ortho Evra, the patch http://www.orthoevra.com/ , or a low dose pill or possibly you might be a candidate for an IUD. Let us know how you're doing, ok?
Good luck,
Jill
