How dangerous is Mini Pill if you...

get pregnant while taking it. I have a 5 month old that I breastfeed. I started taking the mini pill when she was 6 weeks old. I started feeding her solids two months ago. So, she is still nursing but not as much. I know that this probably makes the mini pill less effective now. I haven't had a period since she was born. I am concerned about getting pregnant and not knowing it. I don't want to cause any harm to a baby because I'm taking the mini pill. I have heard horror stories about babies being born with deformities because the monther didn't know she was pregnant and kept taking the bc pills. Would this happen with the mini pill? Any info would be appreciated!

If you look at the package insert on your pills, if you don't get periods, it suggests taking a home pregnancy test every six weeks to make sure you're not pregnant. If you become pregnant, then you should stop taking them, but the baby would be perfectly fine.
The minipill is not dangerous if your doctor believes that you are a good candidate. It's very commonly given to nursing moms.
Good luck!
