Any "big" problems with Nuvaring?

Hi, ladies!

I`m currently on Depo and am considering switching to Nuvaring - I`m not liking this weight gain trend I`m seeing, my libido struggles from time to time, and I`m usually left high and dry if you know what I mean. I like the low-dose of Nuvaring and I don`t think I`ll mind having a regular period again. On Depo, I`m never sure if I`m going to bleed for a few days or, if I go a long time without bleeding, that I might be pregnant.

So, my quandry is this: my boyfriend has a pretty large penis, girth-wise and lengthwise. When he forgets himself and gets carried away a little, he can go far enough into me to bump my cervix (not a particularly good feeling). If I`m on Nuvaring, will this be a problem? Will sex end up being like ring toss on Labor Day, with the ring ending up around my beau`s penis? Which, on second thought, would be pretty funny but I don`t think he would find it as amusing.

I`ve read that the ring can be taken out during sex, but I really don`t want to have to do this unless absolutely necessary. I`d probably rather use the patch if this would be the case. Any similar situations out there?

Thanks,

Lena

As far as my anatomy goes compare to my DF, I take a pretty good cervical whacking on a regular basis--this isn't a problem with the ring. The ring will slide out of the way, even during a pelvic exam! And if he's sufficiently girthed, you shouldn't have problems with a ring toss anyway--the ring is 2" in diameter, if he's got more girth than that, there's no WAY he'll fit in it! I've never had problems with that either. In almost two years, I've taken the ring out once during sex because it was uncomfortable, but that's how it works for me, your experience might be different.

You could always get a sample from your doc and check it out! Good luck...

My guy is also pretty large, and we've had no problem. If anything, having the ring in makes intercourse feel better! I was pretty shocked. My ring must hit a nice spot up in there. Has anyone else had this happen?

I'd say my guy is average size, not real huge. But for some reason the ring bothers him during sex, especially if he's fingering me because he can feel it. The first time we tried having sex with it in, I could also feel it and it was uncomfortable, so I just take it out every time we have sex... no big deal.

I just started using Nuva Ring in September, and haven't had any problems with IC or the ring "getting in the way" For me, I don't even feel the ring when we have IC. My DR did tell me though that it can be removed for UP to 3 hours, if needed.
