Hey all. I just got the depo shot a couple of days b/c I wanted to try something different b/c I have been forgetting my pill. With all the horror stories I've seen, it makes me nervous and I'm already thinking that no matter what, after three months I am going back on Alesse! My question is do you know what would happen if I started back on my Alesse pills near the end of the third month (before I would be scheduled for my next shot). Is mixing depo with alesse, or any other form of BC dangerous? How would I got about making that transition??? I am supposed to get the next shot December 21, so would I just start back on the pill that same day??? Any ideas?

It's not dangerous at all, that's what a doctor would have you do if you wanted to switch back, you probably ought to stick with your plan, though, and not start the Alesse until you're due for your next shot.

There are lots of Depo horror stories, but there are women that love it too. Otherwise we wouldn't see women here who'd used Depo for years! It may be fine after all. But make sure you're getting enough calcium in your diet and a multivitamin wouldn't hurt (we all need those). Depo has been shown to increase bone loss, so making sure you're keeping up with your calcium requirements is a good idea.

Good luck!
