I just had a condom break after ejaculation. I am very worried that I might get pregnant. Is it true that it's not very likely to get pregnant during and right after your period? We used a condom with spermicide and my period ended about 3 or 4 days ago. Should I get the morning after pill or do I really have a reason to be so worried?

If you don't absolutely know when you ovulate, emergency contraception is the way to go any time you have a condom break. You can get pregnant from sex that you have during your period, but most especially sex that happens within a week or two after your period (if you had around 28 day cycles).

When you read this, call your doctor's office, a clinic, or Planned Parenthood. The sooner you get emergency contraception, the more effective it will be. Be prepared for the pill(s) to make you feel not-quite-yourself, they're a large dose of hormones! Some women feel nauseous, but it's very important that you take them exactly as directed. You may experience irregular bleeding in a few days or a few weeks. Your next period may be early or late, either experience is considered normal, so make sure you're using condoms religiously during that time (well, all the time, really) because you won't know when to expect your next period.

Good luck, remember, the sooner you act, the more effective it will be!

I would get emergency contraception if I were you. If your period ended three or four days ago, then you could be getting close to ovulating and sperm can stay alive for possibly several days in your body. The spermicide should help, but still if this is a disaster for you to get pregnant right now, then the safest thing would be to take emergency contraception.
