Hi Everyone-

I just have a few questions. I have been on ortho-tri-cyclen lo for over a year now. I switched from ortho-tri-cyclen. I was on that for about two years before switiching to the lo, when the lo came out. Is anyone else taking ortho-lo? If so what are your thoughts on the pill?

Thanks :)

I hated OTC-Lo. It made me moody, nauseous, and made my skin break out.

Hi Alta-

MANY people have told me they had the same side effects that you had. How long were you on it for? Did you switch right to another pill or stop completely? How did your body react when you came off it? I hope you are doing better, now. Were you ever on ortho-tri-cylen or just ortho-lo?

Thanks :)

Give it about 3 months for your body to adjust to it. Are you experiencing any break-through bleeding?

I've been on OTC Lo for about six months and, while I've had some minor annoying side effects (tender breasts, slight moodiness, etc), I have to say it's worked fine for me. Everyone's preferences are different and eveyone's threshold for side effects they can put up with is also different. My feeling is that there will probably be some side effects associated with any pill I take. As long as my cycle is regulated and the side effects become less and less noticeable (which they have), I can put up with them. My advice: give your body a chance to adjust and see how it goes. It took me a little longer than three months.

Hi Crombie,

I took the OTC-Lo for two months. I know it takes three full cycles for the body to adjust, but I couldn't stand being on it. My emotions were up-and-down for the entire two months, I felt queasy, and had lots of pimples. Also, during the placebo week I had terrible cramps, and no flow. Also, because of my endometriosis, I like to use birth control continuously for two or three cycles before having a period, and I know that it's more difficult to do on tri-phasic pills.

I had been on Mircette previously, which I tolerated very well, but left me with decreased libido. So I knew that I could find a pill that didn't make me sick!

I switched to NuvaRing after the second month on OTC-Lo. My body was happy again immediately after stopping the OTC-Lo, and I like NuvaRing alot!

Lots of people like OTC-Lo, and lots don't. Try it out and see how it works for you.

Hope this helps.

I was on OTC, but it killed my libido. So, now I'm on OTC lo. It brought my libido back a little, not much. But other than that I really like it. My skin is clear, no more PMS,made me lose weight. But I wanna try a even lower hormones pill next. I want my libido back!!! :-)

I've been on OTC-Lo for almost six months. It's given me problems with acne, significant breast tenderness especially during the second week and third weeks, and made me moody and much more prone to tears than usual. My period comes anywhere from the second to the fifth day of my placebo week and it lasts anywhere from four to eight days--it hasn't really settled into a fixed pattern yet. It hasn't hurt my libido, it's minimized my cramps, I've had no problems with weight gain and no breakthrough bleeding after the first month. It's a mixed bag. I'm thinking about switching to a different pill (or the ring or the patch).

I was really liking OTC-Lo (I'm just finishing the active pills for the first month) until the other day... I had to cancel plans because of bleeding, not to mention nearly embarassing myself trying to rush back across campus to change. Moody, no, but in a really bad mood, absolutely. The whole point was to REGULATE my annoying periods. I hated having the patch on me (it was really gross), but at least my cycles were "normal"
