Gyn visit while having btb???

Hi ladies,

Ok..so i've been bleeding for 17 days straight now and i have a dr. appointment for 10/12. Are they going to want to do a pelvic exam?? I haven't been to this dr. office before. I'm sure i'll still have the bleeding next week by the time my appointment comes around. When i called the dr. office to get an appointment they didn't ask what was wrong at all so they probably think its just a check up or something.

So at what point do i tell them that i'm having problems with bleeding before they tell me to take all my clothes off? I'd think doing a pelvic exam while having btb would be a little gross but what do i know.

If anyone has any experiences or knowledge they can share i'd really appreciate it.

Thanks

You might want to either call and tell them you're bleeding, or at least tell the nurse when she takes you to the examination room. I had to have an appointment while I had my period for an IUD insertion and they left an extra disposable towel for me to lay on since they knew I was bleeding. It may be a little gross, but doctors are used to having to deal with issues like yours all the time so it should be fairly routine for them.

I believe that if it is not extremely heavy they can still perform a pap. Actually, I had one done when i miscarried and I was bleeding extremely heavy. I have a three month old son, at my 6 week checkup the doctor scheduled another appt to do a pap. I got the depo shot and for some reason did not stop bleeding. I went last week and he wanted to do the pap even though i was still bleeding slightly, I just explained to him i was uncomfortable with that and he rescheduled the appt, but went ahead and gave me a prescription for another type of bc. I have been on it for 5 days now and finally after 3 months i have stopped bleeding. I called in and told them before hand and asked if i should reschedule the appt, Some say yes some say no depends on the ob

Well I wasn't on the pill yet, but when I made my first appointment with my new gyn I was having extended bleeding problems.

I've had to go to my gyn while I was spotting....Be sure to mention it to the nurse when they put you in the exam room...they'll either tell you NOT to get undressed or ask the dr what they should do....It's embarrassing but it's nothing that drs haven't seen before....
