Hi,

I'm on Ortho tri cyclen and I'm really confused about my cycle.

I started my first pack at the beggining of Aug. I started bleeding

a week before I was to start my placebo pills. On the advice of a friend

I skipped my placebo pills when it came time for them because I was going

on vacation and she told me this would make the bleeding stop.

So I started the next pack instead of taking the placebos.

I continued to bleed for another week.

When I came to the placebo pills of my second pack I took them and never

did get my period or any spotting at all. Now I am on day 13 of my pills

and have still had no bleeding. I've been on birth control before

and I've never ever skipped a period before. Usually I have some break through

bleeding and regular periods.

I only missed one pill of my last pack and I've missed one pill of this pack.

I've also used condoms on many occasions.

So my question is why no period, and is there any possibility that I could be pregnant?

Thanks!

It's hard to say exactly what's going on, have you taken any pills with this low of an estrogen content before? Have you had any bouts of vomiting or diarrhea within 2 hours of taking any of the pills? Any prescription medications that have known conflicts with the pill? Any supplements not regulated by the FDA? If you haven't taken anything and haven't thrown up or had diarrhea, the likelihood of pregnancy is pretty low.

It's possible that you're still adjusting to the pill, particularly with skipping the placebos. The low estrogen content of OTC Lo can limit how much endometrium you develop during a cycle and it's possible that there wasn't much to get rid of during your last placebo week, especially considering that you'd been bleeding for two weeks just a couple of weeks prior.

If you miss another period, it'd be a good idea to call your doctor and get some professional advice. It probably wouldn't be a bad idea in this case either!

Good luck, I hope things work out just fine!
