Hi everytime I ask this I don't get any replys so please if someone can share a story or something it would be helpful. My gf in on the mirenda IUD ok and had it in now for 2 weeks possibly maybe 1 1/2 she had bad cramping for a few days but it's gone away and she don't even know it's in her. Everytime we have sex she wants me to cum inside her and I have not been doin that. She has low iron and I head that having low iron may affect the way the IUD works. Can anyone please share stories who have been on the mirenda IUD and how effective it is. Just so I can hear stories from other people that way I won't be scared to finish off in her.

I'd suggest doing an internet search to see what sort of articles come up. There is tons of information about this on the web. If by chance the IUD is not effective, then pulling out doesn't do you much good anyway. There is sperm in the pre-ejaculate.

From what I understand on doing research a study found out that sperm were not in pre ejaculation?

Well...I got pregnant twice that way! Both times doing the "pull out" method. Didn't work! hehe

No advice on the low iron affection how the Mirena IUD works though - I suggest that your girlfriend call her Dr. and ask if her low iron will affect the way the IUD works at all. I wouldn't think that it does, but I'm not totally sure!

Everything that I have ever read about the withdrawal method has stated that it is not an effective means of BC. It may decrease the chances of pregnancy since there are fewer sperm - fewer sperm results in a lower probability of a sperm reaching an egg - but the pregnancy rates are still quite high.

I've never heard that about low iron...I've had the mirena iud for over a year now and am using it as only protection. My husband always "goes all the way" and we haven't had problems....

Low iron can be a problem if she had a copper IUD since that one can cause heavier periods. The Mirena IUD reduces bleeding dramatically, so it might help her low iron problem.

The Mirena IUD is 99.9% effective. That is better than any other form of reverisble birth control out there, and just as good as a vasectomy. There really isn't much to be scared about there.

Ty for your help well thanks to everyone for helping me out. I just have read so many stories about IUD's and how the fail rate is pretty high anyway you said it's 99.9 percent effective have you had any draw backs with yours that I can see if my gf will anything similar like I said before she doen't even know it's in her so.

IUDs have been around for a long time. The stories you hear about them being dangerous or ineffective usually referred to older types.

Modern IUDs are very effective and very safe. The copper IUD has a slightly lower effectiveness rate than Mirena (99.2-4 for copper, compared to 99.9 for Mirena). Your girlfriend has Mirena and she can't get anything more effective than that.

I have a Mirena too and I haven't had any drawbacks at all. I had horrible side effects on birth control pills and now I no longer have those problems. My periods are very light now. It's been wonderful. I especially love knowing it's effective for 5 years and I don't have to even think about it (other than checking the string occasionally).
