cbcp vs augementin

I take cbcp's but I got sick and had to take augementin, the last day I took the antibiotics was also at the end of a pack so I decided to just stop and have a period. Its been 3 days and my period hasn't started, so I am starting to think even though I have never used a backup method ( infertility problems) maybe I should have this time. I am suppose to start my pills again on Wednedsay and just not real sure what to do, I assume its too early to know if I am pregnant or not, but at the same time, I need to get back in my pills so I don't create other problems. Any ideas?

Hi julie0612, welcome!

I don't know what is normal for you but typically Aunt Flo shows up between 2 and 5 days after stopping active pills, so you have some time yet before you need to be concerned. If I were you I'd definitely start my next pack of pills on time whether AF shows this time or not. If your antibiotic did decrease the effectiveness of your cbcps you won't be fully protected again until you have taken 7 active pills consecutively and correctly, so you should be using back-up until then. Let us know how you're doing, ok?

Good luck,

AF showed up this morning, so all is well, now I can start my pills tomorrow and not be concerned. I just hope I don't need any more antibiotics to get rid of this cold.

They gave you antibiotics...for a cold? Antibiotics work on bacteria - colds are caused by viruses. Antibiotics won`t do anything to help you get rid of a cold, it`ll only kill off all of the bacteria in your body - the good and the bad. I was recently on rounds of augementin for a sinus infection, so I know it`s pretty potent stuff, but it won`t touch a cold.
