No one can force you to keep using a birth control that you have reservations about. All hormonal forms of birth control have a chance of giving you blood clots, and certainly news stories are going to focus on those that did develop blood clots rather than the many women that use OrthoEvra without complication. It`s important to get regular exams to determine any health concerns that might make your chances of developing blood clots higher and also be aware of any members of your family that have developed them, if any.

Overall, OrthoEvra, like all birth control, has went through rigorous testing, both by the companies that developed it and the U.S. government, and has been proven safe for the vast majority of women. Although blood clots are a very serious side effect that do occur sometimes, as long as you keep an eye open for any possible symptoms you should be okay. Early treatment is the best way to avoid serious complications. If you have any questions, you can always call your health care provider, too - one little call and give you a lot of peace of mind.

I hope this helps you in your decision but, as I said, it is up to you. There are many other reliable forms of birth control available if you decide to stop the patch.
