ok im getting ready to start my 5 month on ortho evra. I have a hard time getting them to stick and stay stuck they either slide off the glue or get a big wrinkle in it and it lifts off the skin. Iv been putting it on my butt cues it seemed like the smoothest surface but then it slides off the glue. If i put it on my lower abdomin it gets wrinkles and lifts off where the wrinkles are. what do you all think any ideas to get it to stick more or not slide off the glue. Its geetting frustrating that and the itching is starting to drive me nuts. any help mabie i should just call my dr and try to get the ring. Do you have to go to a gyn to get the ring last time i was in i ask about the nuva ring and the nurse told me i would have to go to a gyn because she would have to put it in. It dident make any since to me and i dident have time to make another apointment because my old precription was out.and i needed to start something the next day any way any help would be nice. any of you ladies had a general practice dr prescribe the ring to you. MY dr doesent even do pap smears.( i dont think he knows mutch about girly stuff as the nurce called it) thanks for the help. julie

It should be a simple matter to get a prescription for the ring. You don't have to have a doctor put it in, you would do that yourself each time it needs to be changed. If you haven't had a pap smear because your doctor doesn't do them, I at least hope you're going to get those done regularly. It's important to do them every year. Most doctors won't even prescribe birth control unless a pap smear and pelvic exam has been done recently.

I did the patch for 2 months because i just kept getting frustrated with it moving and i could never figure out where i could put it and it not move. So i quit the patch and just decided to take the pill even though it is going to be hard to remember but at least know i don't have to be worrying all day that the patch has moved or that is was not attached anymore. I was just as frustrated as u are now.

One of the posters that uses OrthoEvra said that to help your patch stick super well, clean the area with a little bit of rubbing alcohol and a cotton swab. This gets all of the oils and dirt off of your skin and that the patch will stick so well, it`ll rip off hair when it comes time to remove it. :P
