Hi, I am 17 years old and I was taking the pill for about 2 years and then I decided that I did not want to be on it anymore because it was making me gain too much weight. After I stopped taking it I got my period twice within one month, but now I haven't had it in two months since that happened, is this normal? Please I really need help with this because it's making me worry and I can't go to my family doctor because, ironically enough, he has cancer. I would really appreciate it if someone could help me out with this. Thanks!

Hi april diamond,

I'm sorry hon.iVillage’s Terms of Service don’t allow anyone below the age of 18 to post on this board. We do refer teens to more age-appropriate sites: www.teenwire.com is a very good site for teens that is run by Planned Parenthood. www.cosmogirl.com and www.bolt.com are also on our list of sites recommended for teens and scarleteen.com http://www.scarleteen.com/ and gurl.com http://www.gurlpages.com/ are two others that are pretty good. Even though teens can't post here, we can't stop them (or anyone else) from reading the vast quantities of information that we do provide. The board's FAQs are very good in providing an overview of the subject. For most people's questions, the answers are here, all it takes is a little looking.

Good luck,

      Jill

I was on OTC for 2 years then stopped. Got one period right away, probably because from the cessation of hormones, then didn't have my period for 9 MONTHS!! It really worried me at the time, because I was sexually active, but I periodically checked myself with home pregnancy tests, and always used condoms. I think it's best to see a doctor (although I didn't because I was living overseas at the time) but just wanted to tell you that sometimes, it takes way longer than most people say it takes to get your period back.
