annoyed: acnes after pills

Hi Dear Community Leaders and Fellow iVillagers

I am really annoyed by the many acnes on my face that just won't go away. I started ortho-cyclen three months ago (my first time). Now I had 3 or 4 acnes for almost 3 weeks, and while the old ones are still there, 2 or 3 new ones has come along. Before taking the birth control, I never had this many red spots on my face before and even if there were 1 or 2, they never lasted long. Besides, I am now having about a week of spotting before my every period. These are troubling! Shall I see my ob/gyn now or shall I wait until after 3 or 4 months?

Thanks a million!

I know how you feel. I've always had breakouts even in my 30's especially right before my period up until I started Yasmin. All of a sudden I never broke out. The pimples were no more and the cysts I often got were non-existant. I switched to a different pill (nope, couldn't leave well enough alone) and broke out like crazy. I was so upset that I had to switch back to Yasmin.

In my experience and we're all different, I have the least problems with acne on Yasmin. No pimples, no cysts, nothing.

They say it takes at least 3 months for your body to adjust. I've found that to be true because I was miserable the first 3 months on Yasmin. It's all trial and error I've found. Hope that helps.

Thanks a lot!

I also want to know how people's experiences with ortho-cyclen are? I just went to the school doctor/nurse practioner and took the one she gave me. Shall I start pestering my doctor about which pill might suit me better now, or maybe I should wait after the 3 month period is over?

Hi there!

Are you by any chance on Orth Tri Cyclen Lo? I have been on the regular dosage of ortho tri cyclen for almost five years, and then my doctor decided to switch me to the Lo form, and my skin broke out like crazy. I switched back to the regular dosage and my skin is clear again.

Hope that helps, but I would talk to your doctor.
