low libido caused by pill? myth or truth

Hi,
I'm on marvelon/desogen, and for the past 2 months or so, I could care less if I have sex or not. I don't want it at all. I have heard stories that this could be caused by my pill - but was wondering if this is true or not. Would a triphasic be better? or is this just something that's happening to my body? I was on it for about 5 months and had a normal sex drive, but then all of a sudden - nothing. DBF is getting very frustrated with my lack of interest. Do you ladies think that changing my pill would help?
Thank you in Advance, your comments are always useful.

Although, I don't know how the hormones in each pill can affect a person differently. I think for some people, some types of pill affect them and other types of pills (and/or the ring, patch, etc) will work just fine for them.
I stopped taking my pills because they caused me to not want sex at all. I now have a copper IUD and couldn't be happier. DBF is much happier also.

It often seems that one of the main reasons that the pill protects us from pregnancy is by preventing us from ever wanting sex!!!!
For me, it was very gradual (except for one pill where my libido was DEAD) & now off the pill (for over a year now) things are MUCH better in that department & were quite quickly upon stopping.
I agree with the other posters, it's the truth! But, it doesn't happen to everyone or on every pill so there may be a pill that's right for you. If you have been on your current pill for only 2 cycles you may still be adjusting to the different hormones. If you can wait another cycle or so before making a change, that should be long enough to see if your libido returns on this pill. Sometimes it can take a while for side effects to appear. I was on OTC for 3 years and by the end of the 2nd year my libido was gone. It took me a while to figure out that it could be my pills and sure enough, when I stopped in June of 2002 my libido came roaring back! I also felt more vibrant and alive than I had in years! It's insidious how you can feel so *blah*, and not even realize it until you feel so much better when you stop hormones! You might want to look for different pill or consider a non-hormonal method of birth control. Let us know what you decide, ok?
Good luck,
Jill
