when will it be effective?

My doctor said that it would take 3 months for my birth control pills to work effectively. I am 1 week through the second month and last night I realised that some night this week I wrote down the time i look it at but didn't take it at all (the sticker at the top said friday but it was saturday). I was unsure of which day i'd lost so there wasn't really anything i could do to make it up, I just took the friday pill saturday and i suppose will continute to take everything a day beind. Will this glitch work itself out or will i have to wait additional time over the 3 months for my pill to be as effective as possible?

If you've read the package insert that came with your pills, they can be relied on one week after you started them. It does not take three months. If you missed a pill entirely, then after using a backup method for one week, you're back to being fully protected.

My goodness, I got out my instructions to find a quote to prove you wrong and all i found was evidece that you're right! I have no idea why my doctor told me it would not be completely effective for the first 3 months if that isn't even mentioned in the information. Thanks for your help!
