has anyone had any really crazy problems with the nuva ring. im on ortho evera and i dont really like it. it moves around and the sticky stuff doesent always stay under the patch part of it is exposed(which cant be good). and it does seem to itch alot some times. I dont have any scales but i think i have put on weight in the last 4 months. some times im starving to death constantly and other times im wont be hungry all day. any way i wanted to know if any nuva ring users has wered sideffects or any problems i like the convience of not haveing to remember the pill and the low dose of hormones(sp) my sex drive has come back a little more though the dryness is still their (had that with ortho tri cyclin.)and it makes sex painful most of the time. any way do you all think the nuva ring would be a good choice. i do get migrains some times now not as bad as i did on otrho tri cyclin though those were bad and they have gotten better but i still get little ones. thanks for the help im going to try and call my dr today and see if he will give it to me this time and not make me go to a gyn the nurst told me a gyn had to place it which i now know is not true.

you don't need a doctor to put it in like they told you. it's like putting in a tampon and you can take it out just as easily too.
hope this helps.
I've been using the ring for almost two years and I wouldn't go back to the pill unless you made me. In theory, the tendency for side effects should be less because the hormone doses are so low. This is effective because vaginal delivery of the hormones isn't subject to the same rigors as traveling through the digestive system! I haven't had any problems with the ring except my previous-pill breast size has gone back to what I am naturally (a testament to the low estrogen dose), which isn't a problem, but just something I noticed.
How the ring fits is going to totally depend on your anatomy. Mine sits in my pubic notch, you can feel it if you feel along the front wall of the vagina, it's like a bony ridge that may be several inches in. Some women do have problems with it staying in, one tip we've heard is to double over the ring so that it's half the size (like a figure 8 then bent in half) and for smaller women it might not squeeze itself out.
The dryness should be helped! I had huge problems with vaginal dryness on Ortho Cyclen. Huge. But not with the ring--part of it, my gyn's theory, is that the ring is a foreign body in the vagina. That promotes lubrication to start with. But also the secretion of estrogen directly into the tissue should help it lubricate as well. And in my case, changing the progestin made a world of difference.
I hope you like it! Let us know?
