question about the pill!
| Wed, 10-20-2004 - 12:22am |
I have been on the pill for over a year and stopped taking it for a month and then decided I want to go back on it. I had a normal AF right after stopping the pill and didn't take it for a month. I started taking it again a month later and a few days into taking them I started AF again. Is this normal? Should I wait until AF is done to commence taking the pill again? Thanks

"I had a normal AF right after stopping the pill and didn't take it for a month."
If AF came right after you stopped taking BCPs I think that was your last pill period or withdrawal bleed.
"I started taking it again a month later and a few days into taking them I started AF again. Is this normal?"
You had not had another AF when you began your pills, right? If that's the case then what probably happened is that you ovulated shortly before you began taking your pills. Then you got your first natural cycle period, about 2 weeks after you ovulated, somewhere mid-pack, which will happen, if you ovulated, regardless of where you are in your pack. If I have understood you correctly then what you experienced is normal. If you had waited until the first day of your period to begin your pills you probably wouldn't have bled mid pack. If I were you I would not stop taking your pills now, it will just confuse your body more and interrupt the establishing of your hormonal protection. Let us know how you're doing, ok?
Good luck,
Jill
