Hi, I have been on Ortho-tri-cylcin lo for about a year now, I was having very irregular, long, heavy periods for the first 5 months. Before I started the pill my periods were very regular and not very heavy. I talked with my doctor and he told me to use it a different way, by starting the white pack as soon as a got my period instead of taking the entire pack. This worked for 2 months and my periods only lasted a week instead of 3, and they came on time. Recently my periods have only lasted a week and haven't been too heavy, but I get them every 2 weeks (when I am on the dark blue pills) Is this normal? I haven't taken them any differently, in fact I haven't missed a pill in many months. Any advise would be great! thanks!!

hmmm...as long as your doctor isn't alarmed, it would seem that it`s okay..albeit super annoying. I would ask the doc to switch you to a pill with a different combination of hormones. Every woman is going to react to every pill differently, and maybe Ortho-Tricyclen Lo just isn`t your body`s favorite hormonal cocktail. Changing pills could help end the double period thing and put you on a more "normal" bleeding cycle. It may take some time to find the pill that's right for you, but when you do, I`m sure that you won`t have to deal with these annoying multiple periods!

Hi sarabear84, welcome back!

I agree with the other poster. It sounds like it might be time to talk with your doctor about a pill change. Let us know what you decide, ok?

Good luck,

ITA! (I totally agree) A better solution than tinkering with the dosing schedule might be to find a pill that works better for YOU! Sheesh... You might just need a pill with a stronger progestin, and there's a bunch of them available. See what your doctor thinks!
