Nuvaring Question???

I have been using the Nuvaring for a couple of months now and I love the convenience of it, but my question is this:

My ring tends to "peek" out of my body most of the time. No matter how far I push it up, it still hangs out a little bit. I have gotten used to it, but how effective can it really be if it isn't in place farther up in my body? Are the hormones in the ring really working?

Any thoughts?

-- PS -- I had really bad pelvic cramping last night, it almost felt like my body was trying to expel the ring...... what is going on???

I think I'd call either your doctor, your pharmacist, or Organon (the company that makes the ring--they might actually be the most helpful) and ask them about your specific situation.

As far as the cramping, usually cramping is from the cervix or uterus or the digestive organs, I don't think vaginas can contract voluntarily. Eat anything strange lately? Is it possible that there's a weird hormonal thing going on?

I hope you can get an answer to your question! Another thing you could try might be charting your basal body temperature. Typically it's only used by women who are cycling naturally, but I did it to reassure myself that the ring was working. what you do is get a basal thermometer, they're about $8 at most pharmacies (by condoms and pregnancy tests, or sometimes by the regular digital thermometers), and take your temperature every morning immediately after you wake but before you get out of bed. If you're not ovulating, this temperature should be pretty consistent unless you have some restless sleep patterns (dozing will allow your temperature to rise, as will alcohol, less than 4 hours sleep, etc.).

I hope that helps, let us know?
