How effective is the mini pill when taken perfectly on time every day.

Has any one else ever gotten pregnant while using the mini pill(micronor)??

Has anyone missed their period while on the mini pill??? Meaning had a period one month and not the next??

I am on micronor and for some reason did not get my period on the 15th. It has left me very confused. I have been very regular with my periods thus far. I took a preg. test today 10/25 and it was negative.

Any help would be sooo appreciated!!

Yes I missed a period completely. and the previous period was very light. Apparently your uterine lining is affected and there is less to shed (I think that is how it was explained to me)

I have not gotten pregnant but I did have quite a scare with a missed pill (see a previous posting) and took Plan B the emergency birth control pills. However I did have intercourse during that missed pill which is why I was so nervous. Otherwise I guess if you are late taking your pill, you need to use backup for the next 24 hours if you have intercourse.

All in all though I like micronor, I feel healthy and my sex drive returned (a nice surprise!)

If it's taken perfectly, then it's almost as effective as regular birth control pills. I've seen the perfect use failure rate quoted before as 99.5% effective. My doctor and pharmacist both suggested that I use a backup method during the time I ovulate. I never became pregnant on the mini pill, although there were times that I was a little late taking it and had to use backup for two days afterwards.

Since Micronor doesn't regulate your periods, when you have them depends on your own natural cycles. Some women don't ovulate on the mini pill and may not have periods at all, others will have them at their normal times. Once I was used to the mini pill, I was averaging around 35 days in between, but there was a time when I went much longer without a period. I was charting my cycles at the time, so I knew I had ovulated very late in the month and didn't have to worry so much.

I was on micronor for about 8 months.I didn't like it.I had heavier periods-awful cramping-just awful....Micronor can for some women make their periods irregular (skipping months between periods)....If you have reason to worry I would test. But if they're taken correctly-no missed pills-taken the same time each day...you should be fine-they're effective as other pills IF TAKEN CORRECTLY.....

Thank you all so much for your responses. It was very helpful and I finally have peace of mind.

Nanibird, thank you for what you wrote. That is exactly what happen to me my last period. It was very light and so it makes sense about skipping my period this month.
