Depo Shot -- Skin reaction/mood swings..

I have been on the Depo Provera shot for almost 5 years. For the most part, I have really liked it. As time passes, it seems to be getting worse. My CONS are starting to outweigh the PROS!

I LOVED not having a period! (But, I would still get bad PMS) I did gain a little weight (10-15 lbs). But, I am not sure that was the shot anyway! And, I am wondering if the shot is the cause for my horrible mood swings (depression, anger, etc)...it seems to come at the same time every month. Anyone heard of this side effect?

For the past 2 years I have had this horrible skin problem. Almost like a rash/acne type thing. Hard to explain. It is all over my neck & trunk area (not face). I have seen about 3 different dermatologists. They have all prescribed 3 different medicines. Nothing has helped. This last PHD has chalked it up to the hormones with Depo. Compared it to steriods.

I was just due for my shot this past week. I have decided to stay off of it for a while to see if this is the real cause.

Anyone else heard of this? Any other ideas or suggestions?

I was thinking of trying "Ortho Tri-Cyclen Lo" due to its low hormones. Anyone familiar with this?

Hi, Depo does have a side affect that can cause depression. Especially in those that are already prone to it.

I think that you made a good choice of going off it to see what happens, I have tried Tri-cyclen and it is great. I never receieved one side effect from it, it is also great for your skin.

Good Luck!

Actually, is TriCyclen Lo just as affective on your skin as regular TriCyclen? Just curious.
