What is the effectiveness of using the "pulling out" method. Is it most likely that you will not becoming pregnant?

Pulling out is really, really ineffective and not recommended if you truly do not want to get pregnant. (This next bit is a little graphic!) Because there is also sperm in the pre-ejaculate fluid that the guy produces when he first becomes arouse to help lubricate you during sex, you can get pregnant just from that. Also, pulling out requires a lot of trust between you and your partner and also a lot of control on his part. As one of the other ladies on here said, he has to learn to pull out the very moment his body is commanding him to release inside of you.

If you`re looking for a method that`s non-hormonal and easy to use, you should look into regular usage of condoms. A non-hormonal method that requires more discipline on your part is the Family Awareness Method, where you base when you have sex on your body`s fertility cycle. If hormones aren`t an issue, you should definitely check into a more effective and reliable method, like a birth control pill, the patch, the ring, or the shot. Information about all of these methods are available in abundance on this site!

Hope this helps!

Hi mizzbritt07, welcome!

I agree with Lena. The Planned Parenthood method effectiveness link: http://www.plannedparenthood.org/bc/bcfacts2.html says that Withdrawal is 77% effective (27% failure rate) for typical use, and 96% effective (4% failure rate) for perfect use. The problem with withdrawal and perfect use is that it depends almost entirely on the skill and control of the male partner. I think very few couples have the experience and skill to approach the perfect use failure rate over a long period of time when using withdrawal. In my opinion you would be far safer using another method.
